* A BRIEF MESSAGE TO PRIME FOR LIFE® PARTICIPANTS

Prime For Life® is an alcohol and drug  intervention program designed to challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use. The program goals are to reduce the risk for health problems and impairment problems.

We recognize people may be experiencing difficulties in their lives. Some are ready to commit to a lifestyle that incorporates making low-risk choices with drug and alcohol use. Others aren’t fully ready, but are considering taking small steps. Wherever you are on your own unique path, our goal is to support you along your journey. It is our hope that Prime For Life® creates space for people to reflect on their personal choices, be inspired and motivated to make changes, and most importantly, protect the things they value most in life.

Material is presented using a DVD platform with animation, full-motion video clips, and audio clips to enhance the learning experience. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS When should I sign up for a course?  As soon as you are referred to take the Prime for Life® class.  Classes fill up quickly.  So if courses are full and/or you have a court date that does not align well with the class schedule, please let us know.  The sooner you let us know of your issue, the more likely we are able to work with you.  If you wait until the week or two before your court date and need to sign up for a class, it is unlikely we will be able to accommodate you. What is the program cost? $90 plus fees (please note Eventbrite fees are nonrefundable). The cost covers all expenses, including the required workbook. Payment is accepted online via card or by check. Checks may be made payable to Western Youth Network and mailed to 155 WYN Way, Boone, NC 28607.  Please include participant name and contact information with payment.   Payments must be made 5 days prior to the start of the class or your spot may be forfeited.  You do not need to print out your course registration ticket. What should I do if the class I need is sold out?  Stay calm.  We will work with you.  Know that a general rule of thumb is that there is one course every other month.  Before contacting us, check with your legal counsel to see if registration for a class further down the road in lieu of course completion will suffice.  Additionally, you are welcome to join the wait list but as wait listers rarely end up making it into the course, we still recommend that you contact us. What should I do if I miss a class that I was signed up to go to?  Contact Tiffany at the e-mail address below.  You can not simply show up at a future class.  We will need to work out a solution together. If the Watauga County Public Library class is not good for me, what are my other options?  We  currently offer online courses.

What are the Program Certificates? Participants will receive a certificate when they successfully complete the course. However, please note that receiving this certificate does not automatically fulfill your legal obligations.  You must finish the process laid out by your legal counsel and hold onto your certificate.  Please also note that if a participant requests an extra/replacement certificate, they will be charged a $10 fee through the Western Youth Network.  We require at least 48 hours to fulfill replacement certificate requests. If I sign up for a class and then no longer can attend those dates, what should I do?  Please do not simply miss the class without notifying us – again, there is high demand for these classes and we can try to get someone in who is waiting.  Contact Tiffany as soon as you know you need to make a change.  If we are given enough notice, refund options are available. Who should I contact if I still have a question?  First off, we can not answer legal questions around your case.  We simply administer and support the scheduling of Prime for Life®.  If you do need assistance after reading this entire page, please contact Tiffany Williams at williamst@westernyouthnetwork.org and include the required completion date given to you by the court/judge/legal counsel.  We prefer e-mail over phone.  And we prefer to speak directly with clients as opposed to relatives.
