WSAP Good Neighbor Initiatives | In Your Schools...

Kids spend over 900 hours at school each year.  The school environment has an incredible impact on kids, and schools can help create healthier, safer kids and families by committing to Good Neighbor standards.

What Schools Can Do:

— Host parent education nights that include researched tips and tools to keep kids safe from the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

— Provide ongoing information and resources for parents regarding alcohol and drug use through social media, school website, and newsletters.

— Annually review substance use policies and procedures and enact best practice strategies for enforcement and referral to counseling and/or treatment.

— Encourage school personnel to utilize coalition partnership and resource, and attend coalition meetings when possible.

— Adopt formal policies regarding alcohol-related sponsorship and fundraising.
